Three Giving Festivals of Autumn

November 01, 2012  by: Paulose  Points: 15   Category: Inspirational Stories    Views: 388

Autumn is a wonderful season of joy. The season reminds humanity to have break in the fast life and enjoy joy through sharing. The three GIVING festivals of autumn make the season different from other seasons.

Autumn is a splendid season. It is different from other three seasons. It is uniquely splendid because of its three GIVING festivals. The festival of (GIVING)gifts on the last day of October(Halloween), the celebration of National FORGIVING observed on the last Saturday of October, and the festival of THANKSGIVING dedicated on the fourth Thursday of November are the splendid occasions of Autumn.

The festival of GIVING

Halloween is celebrated on 31 October. It is, in fact, a festival of giving. The original significance of the Halloween Day is to share happiness with others by giving- giving candies, sharing dinners and making others happy. The traditional festival Halloween (Hallo + Even) commemorates all the saints and all the departed people. It is a commemoration of their good deeds and sharing joy with others in a goodwill.

The festival of giving is a reminder to give freely, liberally, voluntarily and generously. Giving our time, talent and treasure generously is returned multifold by God in some way. Giving is not for hurting you, but rather it is to make you feel good that you have given.

The National FORGIVING Day

National Forgiveness Day is observed on the last Saturday of October, according to several websites. The history of this observation seems to start from 1994 when National Forgiveness Days were proclaimed in Canada and the United States for the first time.
It is a celebration of unconditional love. It is an occasion for people to repair, restore, rebuild and revive damaged relationships using the process of forgiveness.

Forgiving, according to psychology and many alternative systems, is a kind of therapy. It is the healing of wounded hearts. The reconciliation by forgiveness yields best healing to minds and souls, even to physical bodies. Modern life is becoming more depressed with anxieties and worries. National Forgiveness Day provides a ritual chance to mend relationships that are severed by anger, jealousy and hatred. Make use of it to relieve all the burdens from your hearts.

Forgiveness does not mean to approve some wrongdoing. It is not an emotional or spiritual release. It is the best way to please God. To err is human and to forgive is divine.

THANKSGIVING DAY

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the US and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Based on the traditional Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving Day is to thank God and others who share life. It is an occasion of family gathering. It is meant for dinner with friends and relatives. Usually on this day, the whole family gathers at the meal and starts with the saying of grace. They enjoy a meal usually consists of roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, etc. In some places, they organize communal feeding of the poor also.

Gratitude is the noblest virtue of human beings. Thanksgiving Day is makes it perfect with sharing joy and thanking all for everything.

Autumn makes the human life more perfect with these three festivals of GIVING.
