January 06, 2013  by: Paulose  Points: 15   Category: Health    Views: 404

Ayurvedic detoxification had been an important part of holiday health. Nowadays, in the fast lifestyle, this great part of life is being neglected. Today, people want an immediate solution for their health problems. Hence they rush for swallowing some capsules or tablets for their problems. They are not bothered about the adverse effects. But Ayurveda considers detoxification very important for health management.

When I was a small boy my parents were very particular about detoxification, especially after festival seasons. It had been a must after the festival of Christmas. We were given Ayurvedic syrups for cleansing. it was not so bitter. It was not a burden for us. You know in old days we were enjoying holidays in the house of grandparents or maternal uncles. This had been a traditional custom in South India.

All the children of the household have to get up early on a certain day after the festival days. We should drink the syrup with the usual incentive of jaggery piece. We can go to bed again if we want to sleep more. We were given soups in between. It had been an interesting experience of Holiday Detoxification. It really helped us to prevent diseases after eating so many things during the festival days.

Ayurvedic detoxification

Ayurveda believes that the accumulation of toxins produced by improper digestion is the root cause of all diseases. Panchakarma is the main part of Ayurvedic detoxification. Panchakarma literally means “five actions”. It is mentioned in all Ayurvedic texts such as Charaka Samhita. It is the detoxification technique in five methods. It is a five step technique of oleation, sweating, nasal cleansing, purging through consuming syrups or other herbal medication and finally purging through medicated enama. It has been an effective method of traditional rejuvenation.

Benefits of Ayurvedic detoxification

1) Detoxification is one of the most basic treatments practiced by almost all alternative medicinal systems. It is the strong belief of those systems that detoxification clears up all the buildup of toxic substances in the human organism. It prevents diseases and reduces the adverse effects of diseases, if any.

2) Holidays provide chances for infections by travels, meeting people and eating foods which may not be the regular diet. Ayurvedic detoxification is very beneficial, especially in the holiday season of winter.

3) Detoxification is very essential after eating all the cake items and non-vegetarian dishes of Christmas season to get rid of all the toxins built up in the body through food and also infections from the environment.

Ayurvedic detoxification not only cleanses the colon from built up toxins and prevents diseases, but also builds up immunity and rejuvenates body and mind with fresh energy.
