Walking outside is risky during these days. Just walking on thin sheets of ice gives us an experience of skiing or skating.

Winter has set in here, in the northern states of the US. Snow falls soft like a graceful rain and settles on the ground like a while velvet sheet. We could enjoy the first snow fall only in the second week of December after a long wait. It was a magical event. We went to bed looking at our green yards which we woke up to find quite different as a bed of white meadow.

A time for snow fun for kids

Children are very eager to run outside and play in the snow. they have great fun building snow houses and creating snowmen. Our neighborhood kids join to shovel the snow and play with snowballs. They create snowmen in various shapes decorating them with all kinds of dresses. Wearing thick coats and other winter dresses they brave the cold weather of winter to enjoy their games outside. Playing hide and seek or treasure hunt in the untracked snow is really an interesting fun. Children carry toys and colorful objects to play treasure hunt games.

Skating experience

We need not have great experience for skating. We need not visit the ice clad mountains or polar regions to experience the sinking sensation of ice skates. Winter provides many opportunities for skating. Playing with sleds and snow tubes gives a thrilling experience.

Skating on thin ice

Have you heard of “Skating on thin ice”? It is the sinking sensation that we get in skating. walking on thin ice is not so easy. it needs much precaution. You may slip and fall at any time. You may cry for help and support.

Our life is a “skating on thin ice”

Whenever I walk on thin ice, I think of human life. It is also a kind of walking on thin ice. Modern life has become an experience of walking on thin ice with great anxieties about future. Everyday our life becomes more uncertain about future.

Do we have any hope of help or support in the direction we are moving in our life? Yes, we do. King david proclaims such help when he sings, “Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.” (Psalm 28: 6)

When we feel uncertain in our life of feel like”skating on thin ice”, we should remember there Our Lord to reach us for immediate help.

Winter is one of my favorite seasons. I love it because,.... well, because I love it. It''s so pleasant in these days. Though there''s no chance of we skating here ( I live in Maharashtra, India), and there''s no chance that I may travel to a place just for that purpose, I enjoy watching the sport on television. But the way you have gone philosophical, that was indeed a great reading experience.
