Review of HTC 8X

January 17, 2013  by: Abhijit Bangal  Points: 12   Category: Gadgets  Earning $0.40   Views: 757

There is no doubt that the HTC 8X is one of the best devices brought by Microsoft. Have a look at some more details.

The HTC 8X is touted as the best Windows Phone 8 handset of its time. Well, there must be reasons for the handset to get this tag. The built of the handset, the design and more importantly, the quality you get through this device is unmatched. It’s pure value for your money.

The built and design
One look at the device is enough to tell you that the built is nothing less than art at work. The HTC 8X is easy to hold and handle. The overall quality of the build is second to none. You will surely feel like holding a handset of premium design. The phone is slim and there’s pretty much configured in this small wonder.

The screen
There could be one word that could be used to describe the screen of the handset – crunchy. Even when the brightness is set to medium, the view generated by the screen is still worthy. The phone comes with three settings for the screen display: low, medium and high. It is easy adjusting the one that you want as per your need.

The camera
The handset comes with an 8MP camera. The lens of the phone is f2.0, 28mm. The phone is capable of taking impressive images when in low lights. There is not much hype about this particular camera, but it’s worth more than what one can ask for in a phone.

The battery
The one thing, that the HTC 8X needs in terms of improvement is its battery life. Though we cannot say that the battery life is poor – it is average – it could have been better still. When the phone is used with 3G, it lasts for about 8 to 10 hours. When the gadget is used for gaming, emailing and social networking like Twitter and for photography, the battery gets drained faster.

There’s an 1800mAh battery inside the HTC 8X. It provides talktime of slightly more than 11 hours. However, video playing brought the battery down to less than half, when there was full volume.

The Hardware
The hardware of the phone is superb. When you touch the phone, you will know what we meant here by ‘superb’. However, the buttons, which sit physically on the phone, could have been better if they were a bit in the ‘standing’ position. In short, the fingers cannot easily detect the press of the buttons, so you have to rely on the screen to see the activity performed by the press of a button.

The sound quality of the phone will leave you impressed. The volume literally rocks. Though the phone sounds loud enough, it hardly distorts, so that gives the phone an edge over other phones in this category.

More on HTC 8X
The WP8 is certainly fast like its predecessors. Working with apps does not let the speed down. The Map apps used by Microsoft in this device comes from Nokia and is well-structured as far as the India’s physical locations are concerned. One thing must be mentioned that the WP8 is much more superior to the WP 7.5.
