RADISH A ROOT VEGETABLE AND ITS HEALTH BENEFITS.


Radish-(Scientific Name-Raphanus sativus)-meaning in Greek is fast appearing.
Family-Brassicaceae
It is edible root vegetable with a pungent smell and sweet taste.
Radish offer many nutritious and health benefits. Not only the roots but also its upper leafy part is also edible and is richer in vit.C, protein and calcium then roots.
Skin Disorders-
Mashed raw Radish can be used as cleanser and refreshing face pack. As it contains Vit C, B-Complex Vitamins, zinc it is very effective in treating skin rashes as well as dry skin problems. Water in it helps to maintain the moisture of the skin.
Leucoderma-
Powered radish seeds should be soaked in ginger juice or vinegar and then apply it on white patches. Detoxifying properties of radish helps in curing leucoderma.
Cancer-
Cancers particularly of colon, intestine, stomach, kidney and oral cancers cures with Radish. It is good Detoxifier and rich in Vit C, folic and anthocyanins.
Jaundice-
It is good for liver and kidney. Its detoxifying property helps to purify blood. It helps in removing bilirubin and it checks bilirubin production. Black radish is more beneficial in cure of jaundice. Root as well as leaves is very useful in jaundice.
Good for Digestion, helps in piles-
It is rich in roughage (indigestible carbohydrates); it facilitates digestion, cures piles. Its detoxifying property helps in healing of piles faster.
Kidney and Urinary Disorders-
Its diuretic and disinfectant properties help in kidney disorders. Diuretics properties increase urine production and it cleanses flushes kidney toxins, it disinfects kidneys and improves kidney health.
Fever-
Radish juice with black salt brings down body temperature due to fever. Fights infections with its disinfectant property.


Precautions for Radish Consumption
Radish is widely used in salads. Natural products are not always necessarily safe. So it is necessary to monitor the quantity, dose and interactions with other food, during pregnancy and breast feeding it is safer to avoid more consumption of Radish.
People with gall stones it’s better to avoid Radish. To be on safer side take your healthcare or dieticians advice for its consumption.
