The supported frequency bands only determine whether a certain handset is compatible with a certain network carrier. The operating frequency brands of this phone in the 2G network are GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and in the 3G network are HSDPA 850 / 1900.

Body and Display:

The dimensions of the phone are 118.1 x 61.2 x 11.3 mm. It weighs about 131 grams. The phone has a AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 65K colours. Capacitive touch screens work by recognizing the electrical properties of the human body instead of pressure and generally we can’t use stylus in capacitive touch screens and so handwriting recognition is not allowed in capacitive touch screens. But capacitive touch screens are more sensitive than resistive touch screens. The touchscreen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

The screen size is 3.7 inches with approximately 252 ppi pixel density. The screen resolution of the phone is 480 x 800 pixels.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface. The constant tracking of the multiple points allows the mobile phone interface to recognize gestures, which enable advanced functionality such as pinch-to-zoom.

Memory:

There is no card slot in this phone. The internal memory of the phone is only 4GB. The phone has a Random Access Memory of 256MB.

Connectivity:

Nokia Lumia 505 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. Wi-Fi is also available. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly.

Camera:

This phone has an eight megapixel primary camera. The camera has a resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. There is no secondary camera to make video calls.

OS is an infrastructure operating component of a smartphone. It is the vital component of a smartphone as it controls all the basic operations of a smartphone. This phone comes with Microsoft Windows Phone 7.8.

CPU:

The phone has sensors like Accelerometer, proximity etc. GPS is also available with A-GPS support. Global Positioning System is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. The phone has Stereo FM radio.

The model is available in four colours – Black, White, Pink and Red. It supports microSIM card. The key features of the phone include SNS integration, 7GB free SkyDrive storage, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA player, MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player, Document viewer, Video/photo editor, Voice memo/dial, Predictive text input etc.

Battery:

The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery. The stand-by time is up to 670 h (2G) / up to 600 h (3G) and the talk time is up to 7 h 30 min (2G) / up to 7 h 15 min (3G).

Market Status:

This phone was announced on 2012, December. It was released on January, 2013.

I guess, it is the Lumia series that has saved Nokia from trailing in the race of phones and smartphones. Other companies were making life difficult for the company and Nokia had to come out with something different and I think it has come in the form of the Lumia series.
