So once again the summer is bang on! And once again the challenge in front of us is to keep our body and mind cool and fresh for long. Though I am not a specialist nutritionist to guide you but I bet that a few inclusions of some food stuffs in our daily chart are going to make a big difference on how we prepare ourselves to tackle this summer.

So let's start with it as early as possible! We need to keep ourselves cool in this hot condition because when we sweat, we lose plenty of water, salt and minerals from the body. So, we need to go ahead with those foods only which have the capacity to supply our body with the right measure of water and minerals. Besides, we also need to consider that we should depend only on those food stuffs that are easy to eat and digest. Now, it is time to take a quick look on those food stuffs that are capable of doing so.

Cucumber : This is one food item that we may include in our regular food chart. The best thing about it is that it is not only less in calorie but also has the good proportion of water in it. Besides, it is also good for our skin because it has silica which removes dark spots and heat rashes from the skin.

Lemon : It is a must have in the summer as there is no better alternative to replenish the quantity of lost water from the body in summer. We may have it as cool drinks (sherbet) or in salads or whatever way possible.

Mango : Summer and mangoes are very well related. We are thankful to the mother nature because if there is summer there is also something to get away with it. It fulfills the loss of water, salt, vitamins, energy and minerals to a great extent. It is a great source of anti-oxidants and keeps our tummy clean. It also protects us from various other diseases. So, it is a must add diet to our summer menu diet chart.

Curd : Consumption of curd helps to keep our bodies cool in summer. We may have it in plates or in the form of cool drinks like lassie. It works best and adds to the taste when we take it after meals. We may also prepare home-made curds throughout the summer.

Watermelon : One big reason to have the watermelon in summer is that it has more than 91 percent of water. Besides, it is a good source of vitamin A and Vitamin C. It is refreshing and we may eat raw or as drinks in summer. It is rich in potassium and thus helps in maintaining the regular water balance of the body. However, diabetic patients should avoid it because it has sweetness or rich in sugar content.

Fig or angeer : Fig is easily available and it has greater health benefit in summer as it has potassium, calcium, iron and fibre. We may eat it raw or ripe without sacrificing its delicious taste a bit.

Onion : There is hardly any better diet available to beat the summer heat than the onions. Hence, we may have salads in our lunch ready with sliced onions, cucumber, tomatoes, drops of lemon juices and with a few pinches of added salt.

Tomato : Tomato provides protection from the extreme summer heat especially from the sunburn. It is eaten raw or with cooked foods or in the form of salads. Besides, it also has several other vitamins that give our body full protection against diseases.

Salt : To balance out the loss of mineral salts from the body we also need to add an adequate amount of salt in our regular diets.

Water : It is the most important factor to keep us hydrated in the summer. Together with food items that help us to stay cool and composed in summer we must drink enough water to keep us going. To stay away from dryness and to boost our inner levels of energy we should consume water often.

Right said, cucumber is very good for eyes also, it removes dark circles around the eyes along with refreshing the skin with its cooling effect.
