For his brilliant 48 runs, Sachin Tendulkar got the first MOM award in IPL 6.
Sachin Tendulkar might have himself been feeling proud after he won the man of the match award for his match winning knock against Kolkata Knight Riders. This was the first MOM award for the legendary batsman in this season. It was an innings that brought the vintage Sachin to the fore.
It was indeed great and satisfying to for the fans to see Sachin move his feet and make the bowlers dance to his tunes. Very few batsmen can do that at this age. It was indeed unfortunate to see him getting out just two runs short of a well deserved half-century.
One got to see the best of Sachin in the fourth over, when he stroked McLaren for five fours on the trot. All the balls from the second to the sixth were dispatched to all the parts of the ground. The first four was hit to mid-off, while the second went from over the mid-wicket.
The third four was hit off a slower ball from McLaren and Tendulkar was still up to the mark. It was easy pickings for the fourth four as it was a sweet full toss and a senior batsman like Tendulkar can hardly miss out on this offering. But for the last boundary, Sachin needed some luck and he got it.
All in all, it was a great over and Sachin Tendulkar was seen in an attacking mood, which is hard to see these days. The Kolkata bowlers were out of ideas as to what the bowling line and the line of attack should be. It was a dream start for Mumbai and especially for the iconic batsman.
That was a standout performance for Mumbai Indians, though Dwayne Smith also contributed with 47 runs. However, he had consumed 53 balls for that, while Sachin scored his 48 runs in just 28 balls at a strike rate of 171.42.
Tendulkar was easily the best bet for the MOM award.
